Nestled high above Embrun in the breathtaking French Alps, Les Orres played host to an unforgettable adventure for the Year 7 & 8 pupils of TPS. With heart-pounding activities and a generous dose of sunshine, this trip was a whirlwind of excitement and exploration.

Conquering Heights and Trails

The journey started with a daring climbing expedition, setting the tone for an adventure-packed week. Pupils scaled rock faces, pushing their limits and forging lasting bonds through teamwork and determination. They learned the safety aspects of climbing and supported each other through belaying.

The Via Ferrata experience was equally exhilarating, with pupils navigating cliffside paths secured by iron cables and ladders. This was particularly challenging for some, but with some encouragement and tough love they conquered their fears and completed the at times very exposed route. Everyone was rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the towering mountains.

Pedals and Pathways

Mountain biking enthusiasts revelled in Les Orres’ picturesque landscape. Pupils descended through lush forests and winding trails, their tires rolling over rugged terrain as they absorbed the natural beauty of the region. Some testing single track was overcome and the chance to top up water bottles from the many springs was often a welcome stop.

Rapids and Rafting

One of the trip’s defining moments was the whitewater rafting excursion down the Durance. Our pupils, wearing smiles as big as the waves they conquered, navigated thrilling rapids with unmatched teamwork and courage. Whitewater rafting, it seemed, had become a new passion for many.

Inflatable Aquapark and Aerial Adventures

The inflatable aquapark brought joy and laughter as pupils tackled water-based obstacle courses. Equilibrium and coordination were put to the test, resulting in fits of giggles and splashy camaraderie.

High ropes suspended among the treetops posed a different challenge, requiring both courage and agility. As participants manoeuvred through elevated obstacles, they discovered the importance of trust, self-belief and the resilience to keep trying.

Nature’s Embrace

The adventure wasn’t confined to adrenaline-pumping activities alone. A mountain trek allowed pupils to immerse themselves in Les Orres’ natural wonders, learn about local flora and fauna, and connect with the environment in a profound way.

Toboggan Run

The toboggan run was the cherry on top after the 12km mountain hike. With gleeful shouts, pupils descended slopes on toboggans, relishing a thrilling blend of adventure and amusement.

Weather, the Unseen Hero

The trip’s magic was amplified by Les Orres’ incredible weather. A constant companion, the sun graced every day with its presence, turning an already remarkable adventure into an unforgettable experience.

The TPS Year 7 & 8’s Les Orres adventure was a testament to the spirit of exploration and the joys of outdoor camaraderie. These pupils embraced challenges, nurtured friendships, and gained a deeper appreciation for the world’s natural wonders.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff, instructors, and guides who ensured the safety and enjoyment of our pupils throughout this journey.

Les Orres will forever hold a special place in the hearts of these adventurers, reminding them of the heights they can reach when they fearlessly embrace challenges and the great outdoors.

This was more than a trip; it was a transformational experience, a testament to the power of adventure, and a treasure trove of memories for the Year 7 & 8 pupils of TPS.
