What light through yonder window breaks?

The Drama Department are delighted to announce that our Christmas production this year is Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The performance will take place on the evenings of December 6th, 7th and 8th and will be in our own Theatre at Taunton School. The 26 strong cast range in age from Years 9- 13. In order to audition students were asked to learn monologues from the play itself and deliver them in a manner that demonstrated their own interpretation of how they would like to bring the character to the stage. This task was extremely well met by our actors, who gave engaging, emotional and passionate performances to the casting panel- making our choice a tough one! We look forward to seeing Fabian (Year 13) in the leading role of Romeo and both Beth (Year 13) and Rosie (Year 12) sharing the role of Juliet across the three-night run. We are also excited to showcase some of our new students in leading roles such as Ky (Year 12) in the role of Mercutio and Mateen (Year 9) in the role of Frair Lawrence.

The performance itself will be an immersive experience for the audience, using physical theatre techniques combined with promenade movement and free staging, making the audience feel involved in the performance and allowing them to truly be part of the on- stage action.

We look forward to seeing you there!
