Well done to Year 10 cricketers Oscar and Ben, who took part in an international tour to Sri Lanka with Somerset County Cricket Club over half term.

The two-week Sri Lankan tour included visiting professional national training grounds, where the boys were able to experience different conditions, surfaces and climates.

Oscar and Ben have also been selected for the club’s Emerging Players Pathway, which sees them receive bespoke one-to-one coaching with the club’s professionals.

Taunton School Cricket has a longstanding relationship with the Somerset County Cricket Club, with a number of students selected for the club’s prestigious county squads and academy every year.

England player and Somerset captain, Tom Abell, is a former Taunton School student.

Taunton’s Head of Cricket, Pete Sanderson, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity to give the boys extra focus to their winter training, particularly when playing spin.

“It’s been so great to hear about the results they gained while away and serves as a great inspiration to the rest of our students.”
