Senior School musicians from Year 10 to 13 performed a stunning recital of varied musical styles as part of the Friday lunchtime concert series at St. John’s Church, Park Street, raising money for ‘Freewheelers Emergency Voluntary Blood Bike Service’.

The performance, in the presence of the Mayor of Taunton, featured instrumental soloists and singers and included a lyrical performance on the oboe, a dramatic Italian aria, a refined Mozart piano sonata movement, and the first movement of Elgar’s cello concerto. The concert also featured an energetic Bach, emotive musical theatre singing, and a compelling Allegro from the Seitz violin concerto.

Two of the featured items were created by the students themselves; a new arrangement of traditional folksong ‘The Weary Cutters’ was devised and performed by Thomasin, and a new song from this summer, ‘Muddled’, written and performed by Xavia.

Congratulations to all the performers involved in such an impressive musical recital of contrasting styles: Maddie H, Estella F, James F, Xavia B, Tim F, Thomasin M-F, Tizian G, Isabella S and Freya S.
