Students from Pre-Prep to Sixth Form took part in Harvest Festival celebrations in the Chapel in September, generously donating a huge collection of dry goods to our local food bank in support of the Trussell Trust.

Our theme this year was ‘everyone deserves to eat’ and the assemblies focused on educating students on the fantastic work that is done by food banks across the UK as well as relevant hymns, songs, readings, and prayers.

Taunton Food Bank alone supported more than 3,000 families last year, while the Trussell Trust distributed more than 2.6 million food parcels across the UK in their bid to ‘end hunger together.’

Following the assemblies, a group of Prep pupils kindly delivered our donations to the Food Bank, receiving the following email from its Director, Mike Turner:

“Thank you so much for your Harvest food donation. Taunton School gave us an incredible 717.73 kg of food which is amazing!! We really appreciate your generosity and kindness in supporting our clients.

In the coming weeks, we will send you an official thank you certificate, but in the meantime please say a huge thank you from us to everyone who contributed to your donation.

Thank you again for your support and your generosity. We really do appreciate it.

Kind regards,

Mike Turner
