Taunton’s ‘Military Wives Choir’ Perform in Support of Barnaby Webber Foundation
Taunton’s Military Wives Choir gave a very special concert in the school chapel on 4th October, raising an amazing £1,336 in aid of the Barnaby Webber Foundation.
Directed with customary energy by Taunton School’s Sam Baker, and accompanied brilliantly at the piano by Old Tauntonian Edward Hudson, the choir performed sparkling arrangements of classic songs, including ‘Walking on Sunshine’ ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, and ‘A Million Dreams’.
Current pupils Freya, Maddie and Matilda wowed the audience with stunning solo performances, accompanied by the Schools’ Head of Keyboard, Karis Stretton. Members of the Military Wives Choir commented “these three brilliant young ladies performed with confidence, precision and poise well beyond their years – it was an incredible treat and privilege to witness.”
Cadets from the CCF enabled the smooth running of the whole event, which welcomed a large audience to the chapel, and oversaw the raffle. The performance was attended by the Vice Lord Lieutenant Mr Ted Allen, who thanked all involved for a wonderful evening of music-making.
The links between the choir and the school are very strong, and we very much look forward to future collaborations.
