Year 11 GCSE PRE students visited Hartridge Buddhist Monastery, where we were fortunate enough to experience a day in the life of a monk. We began with a short guided meditation, and then were able to partake in the act of Dana by sharing food that we had prepared at home, with the monks and the lay community.

We were then shown around the picturesque landscape of the site, and were told about the daily lives that the monks here lead, as well as learning about their involvement in both the local community and the wider Buddhist Sangha.  The monks shared insights into their perspectives on life, suffering, and purpose; bringing to life all that we had learnt in class. This trip enhanced our understanding, and we were all very grateful for the opportunity that was given to us.
