TSI Principal, Adrian Hallworth, welcomed Tadahiro Umezawa back to the school for a visit in October.

Tadahiro was a student at TSI (then called TISC) in 1996 (the first year it opened) having travelled here from Japan. Adrian showed Tadahiro around the Foxcombe campus and he even got to see his old bedroom, now part of the girls’ boarding house and strangely enough, occupied by a Japanese student once again!

We were delighted to hear that Tadahiro has very fond memories of the school. He learnt a lot of English whilst here, speaking almost no English when he arrived. He made friends from all over the world (many of whom he is still in contact with) and enjoyed being part of the football team.

Tadahiro is now Vice-Chancellor of the Japan Aviation Academy and he was here to visit his old school and also see how we might work together in the future, with the likelihood of students from his schools and colleges coming to Taunton School for up to a year as well as Summer School.

Thank you very much for coming to visit, Tadahiro, we can’t wait to welcome you back again soon.
