Over the Easter break more than forty students from Years 9-13 travelled to Greece as part of the Classics Department’s biennial oversees visit. They spent the first two days in Athens, then moved on to Delphi, Olympia and the season town of Tolon. There students enjoyed day trips out to see the Epidavros Theatre, Ancient Corinth & Mycenae.

In Athens visits were made to the Acropolis, the Acropolis Museum & Agora and students explored the charming Plaka shopping district.

In Delphi students enjoyed amazing mountain views in the location that the Greeks believed was the centre of the world, hence the oracle being based there, and in Olympia had a competitive race on the original race track of the ancient Olympics.

In the three day stop in Tolon students visited Mycenae, Ancient Corinth and also the theatre at Epidavros, as well as the nearby town of Nafplion for some Greek culture and shopping. The weather was warm sunshine so students were able to enjoy the beach and the sea in and around the sites.

Of course, there were daily ice-cream stops (the amount of ice cream eaten was quite something!) and the sea and beautiful scenery in Tolon was very much enjoyed as part of the busy week. The pictures tell the story of learning, with enjoyment and friendship, far better than any words…..
