Students Successful at Meade King Cup
This prestigious annual swimming event, founded in 1925, is a long-standing eagerly anticipated competition between four local schools: Taunton School, Queen’s College, King’s College and Wellington School. It is the longest standing school sports competition in the world involving more than two schools. The event sees students compete in a range of swimming disciplines and styles.
Friday 2nd May was the 100th Anniversary of the Meade King Cup with thirty Taunton School students from Years 9-13 taking part. This year the Taunton School team came home with all six trophies, against stiff opposition. The Senior Boys Freestyle Relay excelled, beating their record from last year.
Beth Mottram, Head of Swimming, said: “It is an honour for our students to participate in the historic and prestigious Meade King Cup once again. The dedication from all swimmers and staff, across all four schools, continues a one-hundred-year legacy of competitiveness and camaraderie. I am incredibly proud of the humility, spirit, and effort displayed by the Taunton School swimmers.”
