Two Students Receive Offers from University of Oxford
Two students from Taunton School have received offers to study at the University of Oxford.
Lizzy, a Year 13 student who is currently studying A-Level History, Maths and English, has received an offer to study History at New College.
Julia, a gap-year student who left Taunton School last year after studying the International Baccalaureate, has received an offer to study Experimental Psychology at Lady Margaret Hall.
Lizzy, who joined Taunton School in Year 7, is hoping to complete a law conversion course following her undergraduate degree.
After beginning her journey at Taunton School International following her move to the UK from Germany, Julia went on to achieve a score of 42 out of a possible 45 in her International Baccalaureate at Taunton School Sixth Form.
On top of this, other Taunton School Sixth Form students have received a total of 372 university offers, with 188 of these being from Russell Group universities – an increase of 89 from 2024.
Jennifer Taylor, Head of Sixth Form, said: “I am delighted for Lizzy and Julia who have received two incredible offers to study at one of the world’s top universities – it is fantastic to see their hard work pay off. I am proud of the dedication and effort all of our students have invested in their applications, which is reflected in the diverse array of offers they have received.”
Students have chosen to apply for a vast range of subjects this year including Veterinary Medicine, Chemical Engineering, English Literature, Social Sciences, Fashion, Marketing, Law, Medicine, Acting, Zoology, Molecular Genetics, Architecture, International Relations & Politics, 3D Animation, Neuroscience, Sport & Exercise Science, Film Studies, Cyber Security, Computer Science, and much more.
Jennifer continued: “The remarkable breadth of courses being applied to illustrates the diverse set of interests and career aspirations within our student body. With so many UCAS offers already received, along with offers from a range of universities from all around the world including institutions in America, Canada, and Europe, it is amazing to consider where our students will be this time next year.”
