Pre-Med Students Learn from Professionals
Our Year 12 students in the Pre Med group have had a series of visitors this term to help them better understand the professions of medicine and dentistry.
We welcomed Dr Liv Basquill, a registrar cardiologist, who spoke about her career path and experiences at university. This was followed by Dr Mike Seddon, a consultant cardiologist, who took the group through the importance of good medical practice, how it is assessed, and how it is promoted through your career. Finally, the group met with Chris Gregory, a specialist paramedic, who spoke about his very varied career in healthcare, demonstrating the different avenues a single qualification can take you. Chris also spent time getting the group to think about the different types of communication needed to talk to patients with very different backgrounds and needs.
