On 13th March, Year 12s visited the UCAS Discovery Convention at West Point Arena, Exeter along with Ms MacNair and Mrs Machell.

At the UCAS Discovery event, our students had the opportunity to discover all their options under one roof. They could find out about traditional degrees, apprenticeships, chat to universities and colleges about courses and university life, speak to employers and apprenticeship providers, listen to talks from experts in their fields and hang out with our UCAS experts to get dedicated support about their options.

On 5th March we hosted this year’s Independent Schools Careers Convention. We welcomed more than 400 Year 11 students from Taunton School, King’s College, Queen’s College and Wellington School. Each school was given an hour to spend at the convention which gave them the opportunity to meet and talk to almost 60 exhibitors ranging from accountancy firms, architects, the armed forces, universities and apprenticeship providers such as the Environment Agency and Somerset Wildlife Trust! We have had fantastic feedback from exhibitors and delegates alike. We would like to extend a big thank you to all the exhibitors that gave their time to come and share their knowledge with our students.

Exhibitor feedback included:

“Students were incredibly polite, thanking us for talking to them and attending”.

“The students engaged really well and asked some very thoughtful questions”.

The Careers department also attended Bishop Fox’s School Careers Fair where they met lots of prospective students and other local businesses.
