This term we have had Senior and Prep students take their Acting, Devising and Poetry LAMDA exams, plus Poetry speaking and Acting Vanguard exams for Prep pupils.

LAMDA is a very prestigious and well-regarded Speech & Drama exam board and is generally chosen by most Senior Schools. The exams are OFQUAL regulated, and Grades 4/5 are the equivalent qualification level to GCSE and Grades 6, 7 and 8 sit at the same level as AS-Level and A-Level, so they are naturally quite a challenging exam. This year 58.3% of our students taking LAMDA exams were from the Prep School.

Vanguard candidates are examined throughout the UK. It is designed to encourage the love of Poetry and the Spoken Word. In view of the increasing emphasis on communication skills in the National Curriculum, this syllabus offers the opportunity for candidates to discuss their work in increasing depth throughout the grades.

  • In our Vanguard exams, 100% of students received a Merit or higher, 90% with a Distinction and 30% received Honours (90+/100)
  • In our LAMDA exams 87.5% awarded a Merit or higher, 41% awarded a Distinction (80+/100)
