In a triumph of intellect, two of our exceptional students, Riku M and Robbie E, have clinched Certificates of Merit in the prestigious British Mathematical Olympiad Round One.

Out of 1675 participants nationwide, Riku and Robbie soared to the top 800, showcasing their exceptional mathematical acumen. The mean score stood at 20.9, with a median score of 21. Riku demonstrated his prowess with a stellar score of 24, while Robbie excelled with an impressive 29 out of 60, a testament to their dedication and skill in this challenging competition where 30 would have secured a Certificate of Distinction.

Notably, Riku’s outstanding performance stands out even more as he outperformed many students who qualified outright, thanks to a discretionary entry made for him. Riku emerges as our best year 12 mathematician, a title he undoubtedly deserves.

Robbie, already celebrated for his exceptional performance in the Senior Mathematical Challenge as a year 10 student, continues to make waves with this latest achievement, further solidifying his reputation as a mathematical prodigy.

Congratulations to Riku M and Robbie E for bringing pride and distinction to Taunton School with their remarkable accomplishments in the British Mathematical Olympiad Round One! We look forward to witnessing their continued success on the path of academic excellence.
