Students & Staff Invited on Overseas Cricket Trips
This term has been an exciting one for the cricket programme, with both pupils and staff travelling overseas to further their development and experience.
Mr Trescothick spent part of the winter at the Ashes and kindly joined us online in December to share a fantastic and unique insight of the games so far. Pupils, staff and parents from both the Prep and Senior Schools attended this brilliant breakfast meeting. During his trip Mr Trescothick celebrated his 50th birthday; Mr Sanderson arranged a special card sent via his daughter and signed by players from across the Prep and Senior Cricket Programmes. Mr Trescothick is now preparing with the England Cricket Team for the T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka and we look forward to hearing his insights on both England’s journey in the competition and those of the other 19 teams due to take part.
Two of our cricketing Old Tauntonians, Kian Roberts and Elle Golsworthy, have been based in Melbourne, gaining invaluable experience in a vibrant cricketing environment. Kian returned before Christmas to begin training with the Somerset 1st XI squad, an exciting step in his development. Another Old Tauntonian, Thomas Ford, has proudly represented his country at the Under‑19 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia, showcasing his talent on the international stage.
Looking ahead our current students, Oscar C will travel to Sri Lanka with the Somerset Academy in February. Ben C has been selected for the Somerset pre‑season tour to Abu Dhabi in March – fantastic opportunities for all players.
A huge congratulations to those involved. Their achievements and experiences continue to inspire the entire cricket community at Taunton School.
