Sixth Formers Hear from Law Graduate, Hannah
In January, our students had the opportunity to hear from Hannah, a young law graduate who works at Maples Group in Jersey, as she visited the school to speak about studying Law at university and her journey into the legal profession.
Hannah shared her views on what it is really like to study Law at university and explained that while the course is challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding, developing critical thinking, problem-solving, research and communication skills. Hannah reassured students they do not have to study Law to practice as a lawyer and talked about how all their different subjects can benefit them.
One of the most valuable parts of Hannah’s talk was her discussion of how her school work experience helped her understand how legal firms operate and confirmed that Law was the right career choice for her. This experience proved essential in building confidence, developing professional skills and eventually securing her role at Maples Group after university.
Hannah gave students an insight into her day-to-day work as a law graduate. Her role involves assisting lawyers with legal research, drafting documents, reviewing files and communicating with clients. She highlighted that teamwork and attention to detail are key parts of working in a legal environment.
Overall, Hannah’s visit was both informative and inspiring. Her honest advice and clear explanation of her journey showed students that there are many pathways into a legal career. Her talk encouraged those interested in Law to explore opportunities, gain experience and stay open-minded about where their journey might lead.
