Two of our MFL students, Leo and Nyasha, have recently travelled to Rome after Taunton School was selected by the Goethe Institute as one of ten applicants out of 76 to take part in the trip, and the first school in the UK.

This inspiring trip was organised by the Goethe Institute to promote the strong collaboration between the German language and science, with a quantum physicist on the trip saying: “If you study quantum mechanics, computer science or physics, your career is likely to go through Germany at some point.”

Leo and Nyasha were also able to make links with students from other schools across Europe, including schools from Helsinki, Belgium, Finland, Hungary, and Croatia.

Both students have returned from the trip feeling motivated to look closely at careers in physics, computer science, and quantum technologies, while also continuing their German studies so that they can consider studying or working in Germany in the future.

Thank you so much to the Goethe Institute for this opportunity!
