We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ed Burnett as the new Head of Taunton Prep School.

Ed joined Taunton Senior School as Deputy Head Pastoral in 2015. In more recent years he has served as the Senior Deputy Head responsible for much of the day-to-day management of the school. His role as Designated Safeguarding Lead gave him ultimate responsibility for the pastoral care of 1200 pupils from the Nursery through to Year 13.  Ed previously worked at Cranleigh School for 14 years where he was the Head of Rugby, Head of Department, and a Housemaster before coming to Taunton; and in between he taught at an International School in Hong Kong.

Ed started this year as Interim Head of Taunton Prep School and was appointed to the role permanently following a rigorous recruitment process. We were delighted by the quality of applicants for this role but Ed’s knowledge and understanding of the school, his established reputation and credibility with the parents, pupils and staff, and the vision he shared for the future of TPS during the interview process made him the first choice for the role. Of his appointment, Ed has said ‘I am delighted and honoured to be the next Head of Taunton Prep School. The school’s values and commitment to each individual child and the desire to offer such a broad educational experience sits well with me. The community at the Prep School is so welcoming and friendly and I look forward to building on these strengths in the years to come’.

We wish Ed all the best as he takes on the leadership and oversight of more than 500 children across our Prep, Pre-Prep and Nursery provision.
