Taunton School were invited to attend the Queens Model United Nations Conference, it gave the students a chance to participate in the United Nations simulations.

Members of the conference engage in debates, practice public speaking, and learn about global issues. MUN Conferences provide opportunities for students to represent a country, draft resolutions to propose solutions to global issues, and negotiate with other delegates to ensure their country’s interests are represented. Conferences also offer a unique chance to build relationships with other students, from other schools, who are interested in international affairs.

Taunton School students were allocated three countries:

United Kingdom – Charlie B, Jemima L, Katrina M, Lilly C

North Korea – Edward R, Zachary R, Sam W

Uruguay – Josh M, Giovanna C, Edenojie O, Yas N H

There were five committees for delegates:

The Security Council, The Human Rights Committee, The Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SpecPol), The Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and The World Health Organization (WHO).

All students were a credit to the school as they were commended on their conduct throughout the conference.Several students were singled out for their involvement and presentations in their committees:

Jemima L – Commended in the SPECPOL Committee

Edenojie – Commended in the WHO Committee
