Shourya Bowls to Cricket Legends in Abu Dhabi
Lower Sixth cricketer Shourya R was selected as a net bowler in the MI Emirates Camp in Abu Dhabi over the Christmas break. Shourya, who plays cricket for Taunton School, was selected for the ILT20 tournament due to his past performances in the domestic UAE circuit.
During his time at the camp, Shourya was bowling to players like Keiron Pollard, DJ Bravo, Will Smeed, Nicholas Pooran, Samit Patel, Imran Tahir and some local UAE international players like Mohammed Waseem, Vritiya Aravind and Zahoor Khan.
The net bowling sessions were supervised by Mr Robin Singh (General Manager – MI Emirates) and his team of coaches: Mr James Franklin – Head Coach, Mr Parthiv Patel – Batting Coach, and Mr Vinay Kumar – Bowling Coach.
Shourya said, “I had the privilege of bowling in the same nets alongside Trent Boult and DJ Bravo which was an amazing experience. Although it was a short experience, I tried my best to maximise my learning by talking to all the international players and coaches and taking their valuable feedback on my bowling. I spoke at length with Mr Imran Tahir and Mr James Franklin on my bowling and they provided some very valuable insights into my game plans.”
