On Friday the 13th of October, Year 4 had a fabulous ‘pirate-y’ time on their trip to Brixham to visit Sir Francis Drake’s ship, The Golden Hind. The weather, though not perfect, was better than forecasted with only a light shower, while we ate our lunch. As part of this term’s History topic, ‘Privateers and Petticoats’, the children learnt what it was like for a Tudor sailor and saw, first-hand, many different and interesting artefacts. The children relished in the opportunity to dress up in Tudor clothing, be put in the stocks and even walk the plank! A great time was had by all.
