This year’s Big Draw took a break from the Wind Tunnel and had its debut in the Loveday Art classrooms. The three 8ft x 4ft paper rolls were laid out by 9am, ready for the creativity that would follow throughout the course of the day.

A mixture of students from Years 5-13, as well as staff from different departments, joined in the mark-making and pattern-creating. The idea, coined by the Head of Department, Dr Lotte Hammer, was to “pick a pen”, “choose a box” and “add a pattern”. It gave students and staff the creative licence to fill boxes with whatever patterns emerged from their minds.

The materials supplied were pots of black pens in varying sizes: from fine liners to board markers. The finished result ended in a series of monochromatic masterpieces, three of which are now displayed in the Loveday Building. Feel free to come along and admire these inspiring drawings.
