What a fantastic year we’ve had in the Pre-prep and Nursery! It has been such a pleasure watching all the children grow and develop and share adventures with their friends.

June at Taunton School is always a month of excitement and celebration and this year has been no exception. In the Nursery, we’ve had trips to Puxton Park and Noah’s Ark Farm and a visit from pygmy therapy goats thanks to the “Little Farming Company”, with even our youngest babies enjoying a cuddle!

In the Pre-prep, Reception have visited Knightshayes and our Year 2 children travelled by steam train to Watchet for ice cream and a trip to the East Quay creative hub. The Pre-Prep also welcomed many of their grandparents to proudly show off their classrooms and work.

Of course, one of the great highlights of the year was our annual Celebration Day, a hive of activity with even more of a buzz about it than usual! The Pre-Prep’s performance of the “Bee Musical” entertained and impressed us all as we shared the children’s obvious enjoyment of music and performance. I am so grateful to all the TPPS staff, as well as Mrs Simmonds and Mr Baker for putting together such a memorable show.

Nursery 4’s performance was equally special, watching all the children sing and dance (with support from Mrs Turner) as they celebrated the end of their time in the Nursery.

My thanks also go to the TPS PE staff for their support at the respective sports days – showing the fun side of sport with some healthy competition in the parents’ races!

As usual, the end of the year comes around too quickly and this year’s celebrations have been tinged with some sadness on my part as I bid farewell to the happy place that is the Pre-Prep. It has been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated and professional staff and a pleasure to get to know so many families and children within the school.

I wish Rebecca Lewis all the best when she steps into the role in September and everyone a well-deserved summer break and a wonderful year ahead.
