On Friday 9th October the girls U11A hockey team made an early start and travelled up to Cheltenham College for the GU11 IAPS regional tournament. The girls were joined by 19 other schools in an all day event that promised 5 matches.

From game 1 the girls played some excellent hockey, lots of passing and moving with the ball, alongside some brilliant tackles; very hard work helped to protect the defensive goal. Having played their hearts out in the pool stage and being cheered on by the many parents who came to support, the girls qualified through to the cup competition.

Unfortunately, the team lost out in the quarter finals but the girls held their head high after a wonderfully competitive match. To their immense credit they finished in the top 8 schools of all 20 who attended the tournament, a really brilliant achievement from the team. Every single player gave every match their all across the whole day, encouraging each other throughout and learning a lot.

The teachers are incredibly proud of how well the girls behaved, how much the girls had all progressed, and what they had achieved on the day. Special thanks to Miss Larkman and all the parents who came up to support the girls; we all look forward to watching the girls put their learnings into practice during their future fixtures!
