Thirty-five enthusiastic pupils from Years 7 and 8 recently returned from an unforgettable residential trip to Cornwall, packed with adventure, sunshine, and song. The week-long experience was a perfect blend of outdoor excitement, personal growth, and community spirit.

The trip kicked off with surfing sessions at two of Cornwall’s most iconic beaches – Great Western Beach and Fistral Beach in Newquay. Under the guidance of expert instructors, pupils embraced the waves with determination and joy. For many, it was their first time on a surfboard, but that didn’t stop them from diving in, literally, and pushing their limits.

The adventure continued at Swanpool, where pupils took part in a thrilling mix of coasteering, kayaking, and MegaSUP (a giant stand-up paddleboard.) These activities tested their teamwork, courage, and resilience, all while surrounded by the stunning Cornish coastline. The incredible weather added to the magic, with clear skies and warm sunshine making every moment even more enjoyable.

After action-packed days, the evenings offered a chance to unwind and connect. A beach BBQ brought everyone together for delicious food and laughter, while a sunset pizza night created a picture-perfect end to another fantastic day. The golden hues of the setting sun over the sea made for memories that will last a lifetime, particularly eating fish and chips overlooking Towan Beach.

Adding a special cultural touch to the trip, the school choir performed at two local venues: a care home in Falmouth and the historic Princess Pavilion. Their heartfelt performances were met with warm applause and genuine appreciation from the audiences. It was a moving experience for both the performers and the listeners, showcasing the power of music to bring people together.

Throughout the trip, every pupil threw themselves into the activities with enthusiasm and courage. Regularly, the instructors commented on how positive, and willing to give it a go, the TPS pupils were. Whether it was catching their first wave, leaping from coastal cliffs, or singing in front of an audience, each student stepped out of their comfort zone and grew in confidence. The camaraderie and support among the group were evident, making this trip not just a holiday, but a journey of personal development and shared joy.
