Prep Pupil Receives Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award
Prep pupil Emma recently entered the prestigious Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award and out of 17,000 entrants from around the world was selected as one of 85 commended poets for her poem, G.O.A.T!
Last week, Emma attended the awards ceremony at the British Library in London. Her poem has been published in the Foyle Young Poets of the Year commended poets’ anthology.
As part of her prize, Emma has been given a year’s youth membership of The Poetry Society and has been invited to take part in some online writing workshops to connect with other young poets.
Congratulations, Emma!
G.O.A.T
I bleat all night,
I eat all day,
I am goat,
Can you stroke me? You may.
I know I am the best,
Really the greatest,
I huddle in a paddock of joy,
And fashion well, the latest.
My friends will tell you,
I’m very sure,
More than a few times,
That my looks are to die for.
OI GOAT,
That’s me.
