Channel Titans Fundraising for Compass Wellbeing
Our Year 8 Channel Titans are proud to share that they have chosen to support Compass Wellbeing with their English Channel swim this summer!
Compass Wellbeing is a wonderful Taunton-based charity which supports people with additional needs and those recovering from physical injury through its sensory rooms and hydrotherapy pool, helping members of our local community to improve their health, independence and wellbeing.
This year’s swim is extra special as it marks the 10th anniversary of Taunton Prep School pupils taking on the Channel challenge. Over the past decade, more than 60 pupils and 11 staff members have completed the swim, raising over £100,000 for charity.
The team of 18 pupils have been training for almost two years, starting in Taunton Prep School’s pool, before moving to Wiveliscombe outdoor pool, and this month transitioning to Clevedon Marine Lake. The pupils are looking forward to taking part in a number of challenges over the coming months, including the infamous Gwineas Swim and the Plymouth Breakwater swim in June, which will further support their training for the big swim in August.

We were also thrilled to see the pupils’ story documented in a fantastic piece in The European written by journalist Ben Hooper. Ben is a British ocean adventurer, mental health advocate and former police officer whose record-setting swim across the Atlantic has earned him international acclaim, so to have him supporting our pupils on their incredible English Channel adventure is brilliant.
