The first half of the Summer Term has certainly been one of our busiest and most exciting, with the children enjoying a wonderful range of activities, special events and memorable trips both in and out of school.

One of the highlights of the term was our inspiring David Attenborough Day, where the children explored the wonders of the natural world through a variety of creative and educational activities. The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by the children was fantastic to see, and this learning was beautifully celebrated in the stunning art gallery created from their work. It was lovely to see the children proudly showing members of their family around the gallery, and we hope you were as impressed as we were by the creativity and thoughtfulness on display.

We have also enjoyed some much-loved traditional school events. Sports Day was filled with energy, determination and excellent teamwork, with all children showing great enthusiasm and encouragement for one another. Mrs Coleman organised a range of fabulous events, and it was wonderful to see activities designed to promote our sporting values alongside those offering a competitive element. Alongside this, our Careers Day provided a valuable opportunity for the children to learn about a variety of professions and begin thinking about future possibilities. A big thank you to those parents who came in to share their experiences and helped make the day so engaging and inspiring. Meanwhile, our Grandparents’ Morning was a truly special occasion, giving children the chance to share their learning and spend valuable time with their grandparents in school.

The term has also been packed with exciting educational visits. Nursery 3 had a fantastic adventure at Puxton Park on their first school trip, where they enjoyed exploring the wide range of play areas, meeting and feeding the farm animals, and experiencing interactive activities such as climbing, soft play and outdoor adventure equipment. Nursery 4 also thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, where they were able to see a wide variety of animals, from farmyard favourites to larger zoo animals such as giraffes and elephants, as well as taking part in engaging educational talks and opportunities to learn about habitats and animal care. Reception children loved exploring Knightshayes, where they had the opportunity to wander through beautiful gardens and woodland, take part in outdoor exploration and play, and discover interesting features within the historic house through child-friendly trails. Year 1 had a fantastic day discovering the history of Dunster Castle, exploring the impressive castle and grounds, learning about life in the past, and enjoying time in the gardens and completing interactive trails designed to bring history to life.

Year 2 have also had an exciting start to their transition into Prep. They have approached their transition work with great enthusiasm and maturity, and recently enjoyed a Forest School session alongside Year 3. It was lovely to see the children building confidence, friendships and excitement for the next stage of their school journey.

We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated staff and supportive parent community for all they do to bring learning to life for the children. These wider experiences, both in and beyond the classroom, play such an important role in making learning at Taunton Pre-Prep so rich, engaging and memorable.

As we look ahead to the second half of term, we are excited for all that is still to come and are incredibly proud of everything the children have achieved so far.
