On April 22nd and 23rd, Taunton School hosted GKN Engineering to engage with Year 6 students about the field of engineering and potential career paths within it.

This initiative aimed to dispel stereotypes surrounding engineering and highlight the diverse range of engineering disciplines available.

On the afternoon of the 22nd, students collaborated to brainstorm and plan their glider designs in preparation for the hands-on making session on the 23rd. The following day involved enthusiastic construction of the gliders, culminating in an exciting testing phase to measure their flight distances!

The two-day event proved to be highly enjoyable, showcasing the students’ creativity and engineering prowess. It’s safe to say we definitely have some young engineers on our hands!
