As part of our cross-curricular study of the rainforest, our history lessons have focused on the Mayans this term!

Recently, we’ve been exploring the types of food the Mayans ate. During a special lesson, the children had the chance to taste various Mayan foods. Some of these foods were familiar to them, while others were entirely new. The children guessed what each food was before deciding whether to try it.

The highlight of the lesson was tasting authentic Mayan hot chocolate, which was a delightful treat, though not as sweet as the pupils might be accustomed to. Everyone had a fantastic time learning about and sampling the wonderful foods on offer!
