On Sunday 30th April, a group of golfers consisting of Old Tauntonians, students and staff gathered to compete for the Thone Cup and to take part in the annual fixture of OTs versus the school.

It was certainly a fairer day in terms of weather compared to the 2022 edition, although the course was set up in a challenging manner, with difficult pin placements on a majority of the holes. Everyone battled through though and OT Matthew P managed to bring home the OT Cup with an individual stableford score of 35.

Success for the family did not end here though, as his son Finley (Year 8) also managed to win the G.B.Johnson Salver for the best student score on the day. In the overall fixture, the OTs managed to sneak a second successive victory, winning with an average score of just a half point more than that of the school.

Students and staff will therefore be licking their wounds and preparing to reclaim this title in 2024. An excellent day was had by all, and thanks go to Hugh Todd for his organisation and delivery of an enjoyable event.
