A Message from Head of Pre-Prep & Nursery, Becky Lewis
What an incredibly busy term it has been across Nursery and Pre‑Prep. The children have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a growing confidence that has been wonderful to witness. Their learning has been rich, varied, and full of those magical moments that make school life so special.
Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 each took to the stage this term for their sharing assemblies, and what a triumph they were. The children spoke with such assurance, proudly showing their learning to families and friends. From creative projects to fascinating facts, their confidence and clarity were truly impressive. These assemblies are a highlight of each term, and the children shone brightly.
Adventures outside the classroom have added an extra spark to our learning this term. Year 2 enjoyed a deliciously engaging trip to the M Shed, where they took part in a chocolate‑making workshop. They explored the history, science, and craft behind chocolate, and returned full of excitement (and perhaps a little chocolate and ice cream too). Year 1 embraced the great outdoors at Wildwood. Surrounded by nature, they learned about animals, habitats, and conservation, all while enjoying the freedom of outdoor exploration. Meanwhile, Reception had a fantastic time at We The Curious, where hands‑on science and discovery brought their learning to life. Their curiosity was unstoppable as they explored, experimented, and asked brilliant questions.
Our Nursery children have also blossomed this term. As the weather has improved, outdoor learning has become an even bigger part of their day – mud kitchens, climbing, exploring, and imaginative play have all flourished. Their confidence in trying new things, building friendships, and expressing themselves has been wonderful to see.
A special highlight this term was our first whole‑Nursery Mother’s Day Tea Party. It was a fabulous celebration where children shared delicious treats with their mummies and enjoyed playing together in the Nursery environment. The smiles, scones, and cuddles made it a truly memorable occasion.
A heartfelt thank‑you to all our parents and families for your ongoing support, encouragement, and partnership. It makes such a difference to the children’s experience, and we are incredibly grateful.
We now look forward to the summer term with excitement – warmer days, new learning adventures, and plenty more opportunities for the children to shine.
