IAPS U13 Boys’ Hockey Championships 2025 – Top 3 Result
Our U13A boys hockey team took part in the International Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) Boys Hockey Championship finals on 11th March 2025 held at Merchant Taylor’s School, Sandy Lodge, Northwood and finished in the top three!
Year 8 pupil Isaac said of the experience:
“Our hockey team embarked on an exciting journey, leaving at lunchtime to travel to Watford where we stayed at a hotel for the night. Once settled, we enjoyed a meal at Nando’s before returning to the hotel for an early night. The next morning, we indulged in a delicious breakfast and left around 8:20 AM for Merchant Taylors’ School.
Feeling nervous but ready, we began warming up for some good hockey. Our first game was a brilliant start, securing a win while sticking to our fundamentals. As we moved into the next phase, we won all three tough group games. In the semi-final, despite a tough 2-1 loss, we fought hard but were less clinical in our counter-attack. Mr. Sewell’s wise words encouraged us to lift our heads and look to our next match. We picked ourselves up and played ‘out of our skin’ against a very talented opposition. The victory meant that we finished in the top 3 for the tournament.
It was an amazing tour, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of Mr. Sewell and Mr. Winsor. This journey was filled with growth and achievement, leaving the Year 8s proud of their last IAPS tournament.”
A fantastic result – well done to the whole team!
