This half term our DT pupils have been looking into structures.

The class started by looking at how we can fold a piece of paper to make it stronger. We then moved onto a structures game learning about the advantages of using triangles in structural beams, before designing and making our own beam and testing it to destruction. Lastly, pupils started to design and make a more complex structure and testing them to destruction with the winning beam holding 4KG.

Pupils have also been busy designing and making their own sweet dispensers using a spring mechanism. The class worked from a template and quite fine tolerances to ensure their dispensers worked correctly and all pieces lined up.
