Throughout January and February, Taunton Senior School and Taunton Prep School students competed at the Somerset County Swimming Championships. Just under 30 pupils from both schools participated, with many bringing home medals, county titles, personal bests, and most importantly, lots of smiles.

Together, the students secured just shy of one-hundred medals.

Medal winners included:

Harry (Year 4)

JJ Wells

James Sercombe

James (Year 6)

Lucas, Will, and Paige (Year 7)

Liberty, Katie, Josie, Oli, and Tom (Year 8)

Ronan (Year 9)

Frankie and Sami (Year 10)

Szymon and Alex (Year 11)

A particular well done goes to the eight students who gained gold medals in various events – Frankie, Liberty, James, Oli, Paige, JJ, Will, Szymon, and James.

Another special congratulations to JJ who was crowned both top point scorer in the boys category and across the entire competition. In the girls category, Paige was the overall top point scorer and James was the second highest point scorer in the boys category.

Having spoken to many students who were involved in The Somerset County Championships, it seemed to be a fantastic experience. Regardless of their podium results, the Taunton School community are very proud of each and every student who qualified for the event. Well done swimmers!
