We have been celebrating the Lunar New Year and the Chinese New Year this week, with plenty of activities around campus.

TSI marked the Lunar New Year with a vibrant dumpling-making event in the common room, bringing students and staff together to celebrate and learn. The room was decorated with red and gold decorations, creating a festive atmosphere as everyone welcomed in the year of the snake. Guided by experienced peers, participants learned to fill and fold dumplings, with many attempting the skill for the first time.

Organised by deputy house parent Mr Reynolds and led by the Chinese students, the event provided a heartfelt opportunity to share traditions with one another. After the dumplings were prepared, they were steamed and served being shared amongst peers with joy.

By embracing traditions in such an interactive way, TSI continues to set an inspiring example of inclusivity and cultural appreciation.

TSIMS students have also been celebrating the New Year, making spring rolls, dragon boat racing and getting stuck in with some Chinese brush painting.

Students have also been handing out red envelopes and learning about the history of Chinese New Year.

They are looking forward to continuing their celebrations at the weekend, where they will be making delicious dumplings.
