Having run and previously qualified, TPS runners lined up to compete against the other districts in Somerset vying for selection to the Somerset team for the upcoming South West and English Schools Championships. All pupils should be congratulated on gaining selection for the Taunton Area team at the event which took place at RNAS Merryfield.

Minor Girls

Xavia and Libby ran in the Minor Girls event – this is for pupils in Year 7 only. Running 2500m, Libby finished 5th and Xavia 7th. Both are now selected for the Somerset team.

Minor boys

Will ran 2500m and finished 5th – he has also been selected for the Somerset team.

Junior Girls

After Inter boys and girls and senior girls this was the penultimate event with the runners completing a 3250m run. Competing against girls a year older, Josie and Rosie ran their best with Josie selected as reserve for the Somerset team. Former TPS pupils Alice (5th) and Zoe (12th) also ran.

Junior Boys

The final event on the day was the junior boys, who also completed a 3250m run. Lewis (2nd), Tom (3rd) and Oli (7th) were all outstanding and gained selection for the team.

We wish all those selected best of luck in the South West Championships on Saturday 4th February. From this event pupils can gain selection for the ESAA National Schools Championships on Saturday 18th March at Wollaton Park, Nottingham.
