Prep Performing Arts Enjoys Busy Half Term
Not a week has gone by during the second half of this term without a flurry of superb Performing Arts rehearsals and performances presenting a huge variety of style, skills, and great enjoyment on the part of all our talented young musicians, singers, actors and dancers.
Our Year 6 production of Macbeth was thrilling and exciting, with lead characters and chorus members all stepping up to the challenge of performing a serious piece of drama with brilliant maturity and stage presence.
We have had three very dynamic and enriching Performing Arts Café concerts in the chapel, each one showing a range of musical styles and abilities. Early in November, our Music Scholars and Music Pathway pupils performed high quality solo pieces in a programme that also featured Senior School scholars in a combined concert celebrating some of the crème-de-la-crème of our top-level music department acolytes. Our Winter Concert, celebrating the work of our fantastic music ensembles and our highly skilled and dedicated Visiting Music Teachers, was a tremendous success and showed the power of music through team building, singing, and playing together as unified ensembles.
We celebrate the success of our Music Exam candidates performing extremely well under pressure and attaining high marks – a credit to their work ethic and to the nurturing support of their instrumental teachers. In addition, we give particular congratulations to Esme who successfully auditioned to sing with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, which means she now represents the nation in her singing! This is a stunning achievement – well done Esme.
