Biathlon Pupils Excel at South West Schools Biathlon and Qualify for National Biathlon
On Sunday 24th November pupils from Taunton School competed with courage and determination at the South West Schools Biathlon hosted by Millfield School. In Modern Biathlon, points are awarded for each element and added together to give an overall score.
With Storm Bert bringing gale force winds and heavy rain, our athletes battled through the run element, completing between 400-1600m on the track. They then moved inside to complete the swim element, racing between 25-200m, according to their age. Individual medals were awarded to those athletes placing in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, with team prizes being awarded to the top three schools in each category.
We are so proud of every pupil who braved the elements and competed in this qualification event for the National Schools Biathlon to be held in March next year. Modern Pentathlon is growing steadily at Taunton School and we look forward to plenty more participation and success in the future.
