On the 19th April a team of chess enthusiasts from Taunton Prep & Senior School went to the Team Chess Challenge National Finals at Imperial College in London.

It was a fantastic achievement for the team to qualify for an event of this high standard against schools across the country. Frey, Mike, Mark and James all performed brilliantly and finished 9th in the competition.

Frey and Mike went head to head with some of the very best under-19 players in the country, Mark went through the whole day unbeaten and James won two of his five matches – an incredible feat considering he was a Year 6 pupil playing in an under-19 national tournament.

The whole team had a wonderful day and enjoyed the competition. Well done all!
