Students Shine in January’s Musical Masterclasses and Concerts
This January, our students have experienced a month full of musical growth and fun.
Mid-month, they attended masterclasses with David Aspin, Principal Violist of the Orchestra of Opera North, and Kathryn Mosley, collaborative Pianist at the University of Victoria, New Zealand. These sessions gave our students a chance to learn from the best.
The visiting artists also gave a lunchtime recital, which was a treat for everyone. The day wrapped up with a lively workshop on Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2, featuring Ed Hudson and the String Orchestra, who will perform it at our Spring Concert.
At the end of the month, we celebrated with a Piano Showcase Concert in the chapel. Students performed solos, duets, and chamber music, and Thomasin made her organ debut.
These musical events not only improved our students’ skills but also built a stronger sense of community and teamwork. We’re excited to see how they continue to grow!
