Since its debut in 1990, the Baty Bowl has become a beloved tradition at Taunton School, and this week marked the 34th edition of the event.

As per custom, the match commenced with a blessing of the Bowl by the school chaplain, Eliza, followed by a coin toss using Brother Baty’s revered ‘holy silver penny’.

This year’s referee was Wills East Housemaster and Geography Teacher, Michael Turner, while the commentary was provided by Taunton School History Teacher, Robert Gallimore, and very special guest, Chatts.

Staff, students and parents cheered and drummed with anticipation, with England emerging victorious with a score of 34-42 against our International All Stars. This outcome marks the highest score ever recorded in the history of the Baty Bowl.

The atmosphere was electric as players and spectators celebrated the event, honouring the spirit of tradition and strengthening the bonds within the Taunton School community.

“The bowl is my life, my life is the bowl.”
