This half term in DT enrichment pupils have been getting festive by designing and making their own Christmas themed nightlights and advent calendars.

Each pupil started their nightlights by designing their scenes on paper, then digitalising them on 2D design before laser cutting them using our new laser cutter.

The frames were cut and made using dowel joints aided by the use of a laser cut jig and the group also got the opportunity to solder the power cable to a strip of LED lights.

The laser cutter was also used to make the pupils’ advent calendars, with each calendar requiring 24 individual boxes totalling a whopping 410 across the group! The calendars were then finished with vinyl stickers to add a touch of colour and to show the days.

The results look fantastic and will make a great addition to their Christmas decorations!
