Pupils from the Year 7 and 8 scholarship pathway recently had the unique opportunity to attend a prestigious workshop hosted by the National Gallery. The focus of the workshop was the work of Vincent van Gogh, providing the students with an immersive experience in art and creativity.

During the workshop, the pupils delved into the techniques of mark making, experimented with various media, and explored the creation of patterns. Inspired by Van Gogh’s paintings, particularly those depicting park scenes, the students wrote short poems that captured the essence of his work. These poems were then incorporated into their artwork, culminating in the creation of an origami model of Van Gogh’s famous Yellow House.

The workshop was a hit among the young scholars, with many expressing a newfound love for mark making and others enjoying the construction aspect of the activities. This hands-on experience allowed the pupils to explore their individual creativity in a supportive and inspiring environment.
