At our Pre-Prep, we believe that fostering a love for learning is one of the most valuable gifts we can give our children. This is why we prioritise excitement and curiosity every day. These two elements are not just pleasant add-ons; they are fundamental drivers of effective learning. I feel very lucky that I get to see this in action, be it forest play, water channeling, role play or using pizzas to learn about fractions! Our children truly thrive on being given the confidence and independence to discover their own learning.

However, as the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and at our recent ‘When I grow up day’ it was wonderful to see our whole school community so dedicated to nurturing these qualities together. Our biggest thanks for this event goes to those parents who gave up their time to come and put on such engaging workshops for the children. The wealth of knowledge and experience shared on this day, will I’m sure stay with the children for many years to come and may well have now inspired our next chefs, racing drivers, engineers, fashion designers, medics, architects, journalists and business leaders. I hope also that what the children have taken away from this event is the inspiration to be able to achieve anything if they are willing to work hard and commit to it.

As I write this month’s piece away from school with a broken foot, the sense of fun and community which I am missing at Taunton Pre-Prep is even more palpable. Our school would not be the special place it is were it not for the staff and families who make up our community and come together to inspire our children. I wish you all a restful holiday and look forward to being back for the final half term of this year.
