Year 12 UCAS & Year 11 Independent Schools Career Conventions Gear Students for Success
Year 12 UCAS Convention
On 13th March the Careers Department are taking the whole Year 12 cohort to Westpoint Arena, Exeter for the UCAS Convention. This annual event is a fantastic opportunity for students to meet 127 exhibitors covering UK universities and apprenticeship providers and speak to admissions teams. This will help pupils gain a valuable understanding of a variety of courses and what different universities are looking for in their applicants. The trip is designed to consolidate the information the students have already received from the Careers Department regarding UCAS and apprenticeship application processes and help them decide on their post school plans.
Independent Schools Careers Convention
On 5th March we are delighted to be hosting this year’s Independent Schools Careers Convention. We are expecting four hundred Year 11 students from Taunton School, TSI, King’s College, Queen’s College and Wellington School. Each school will have an hour slot to visit the convention which will enable students the opportunity to meet and talk to the 56 exhibitors ranging from accountancy firms, architects, the armed forces, universities and apprenticeship providers through to the Environment Agency and Somerset Wildlife Trust! This event is designed to get pupils thinking about their future Sixth Form choices and beyond and we encourage students to take advantage of the wealth of experience on offer to talk about future careers and potential work experience.
