U16 Girls Hockey Success
The Under 16 team have played all of their England Hockey Tier 1 Regional matches as part of a league for the West of England. They have worked brilliantly as a team throughout the term which has resulted in them now qualifying for the final 16 in the National knockout competition after Christmas. They have played against Millfield, Clifton College and King’s College as part of this league.
Guiding the team’s journey is their coach, Will Abell, who has not only fostered their individual development but also their tactical team understanding to allow them to compete at this level. This has included taking them to play against club sides and a bespoke athletic development programme that runs alongside their hockey.
Some of the U16 team were also part of the U15A team that won the invitational Sherborne tournament on the first week of term. Will Abell, who coaches both teams, is currently part of the Great Britain Advanced Coach Programme. His coaching expertise extends to both Taunton Prep School and the Senior School, on both girls and boys programmes. Will runs a very popular performance and development weekly coaching session plus hockey camps as part of WA Coaching, all based at Taunton School.
