We were delighted to welcome supporters of Taunton School Music to two spectacular recitals earlier this term marking the opening of our newly refurbished Gwyn Williams Room performance space and thanking the donors whose generosity helped make it possible.

11 solo performers from across the year groups showcased their exceptional talents, bringing the space to life with performances on the new Steinway grand piano and a range of other instruments. Guests also experienced the enhanced acoustics, lighting and design that make this a truly outstanding venue for performance.

A wide variety of music, ranging from Bach to Binge, showcased both the musical range and talent of the students, and the huge impact of such state-of-the-art redevelopment on the School’s co-curricular programme.

There was overwhelmingly positive feedback from the packed audience, impressed by both the standard of music-making and of the room’s acoustics and new Steinway. Performers included Freya S, Tim F, James F, Daniella H, Xavia B, Jack F, Maddie H, Estella F, Tizian G, Tomisin A, and Isabella S.

We were pleased to be joined by representatives of the Old Tauntonian Association, governors, staff, former staff, local musicians, and the architect, acoustic consultant and many of the contractors who played a key role in the stunning refurbishment.

It was a memorable evening of music, celebration and gratitude as we opened an exciting new chapter for Taunton School Music.
