Last week, sixteen Taunton Prep School pupils took part in an exciting Under 13 online chess tournament for the first time!

This was a great opportunity for pupils to show off their chess skills against 27 other schools, including Wellington College, Warwick School, Banda School Kenya and many others from the UK and abroad. 

The games were quick, with only five minutes each plus increments, making for a thrilling and nerve-wracking hour-long tournament!

In the end, our team were an excellent 12th overall, with Harry, Albie, Sebbe and Leo being the lead counters for the team. An extra special mention to Harry, who was the eighth highest scorer out of all 301 pupils taking part! 

We look forward to participating in future tournaments and welcoming more pupils to get involved in this rapidly growing sport.
